$320,000 in grants awarded

PROJECT STATUS: IN PROGRESS

Triple Line Studio partnered with local boutique firm, Design Case, to work with Hamilton Square Partners as the design architect for a facade uplift for the Old Hyattsville Post Office. This historic structure was built in 1929 as the location for the Hyattsville Post Office along the city’s main street. Ten years later it became a bakery when the post office was relocated to a new building on Gallatin. The building was used as an office, church, and sandwich shop, finally being left vacant for many years until Hamilton Square Partners purchased the property in the 2010’s.

Triple Line Studio provided a strategic vision for the design and funding for the project and worked closely with the owner and Maryland Historical Trust in order to apply for and win the state’s Historic Competitive Commercial Tax Credit for $149,908 and the matching Federal Historic Tax Credit for an additional $149, 908. The design team also led the bid process for several properties owned by Hamilton Square Partners including this one. Three bids were submitted for grant applications, ultimately winning another $20,000 for the project through the City of Hyattsville’s Commercial Facade Improvement Program. Additional grants are still pending.
